Excellent anatomical guide
Having studied anatomy for nearly 3 decades, I can appreciate the accuracy of the depictions and the muscles utilized in the described poses.
Yoga Anatomy is a book that gives readers a look inside the human body as placed in different positions of yoga.
Chapter 1 focuses on the dynamics of breathing and respiratory physiology covers as well. Chapter 2 speaks of the spine and gives some pretty detailed spinal information. Chapter 3 is short and covers the asanas.
The rest of the book, Chapters 4 to 9, form the "meat" of the book and contains more anatomy information probably most readers bought the book so that the muscles are used in what pose. The way the book has information is quite handy-it has a section on standing poses, sitting poses, kneeling poses, on your stomach, laying, laying on your back, and arm supported poses. Sooo, all you have to do is to choose a position and ask, and you will find pictures of what muscles are involved (and let me say, they show you some great angles to the installation 's ensure that the reader can see all the muscles that are involved). In addition to learning the muscles are involved, the book also tells you what actions are involved, as well as parts of the body are working and those who are longer-neat!
A great reference book, its just perfect for yoga lovers who has time to become familiar with the muscles they never knew they had, but now after reading this book! Also recommend The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution if plantar fasciitis pain prevents you from doing your yoga.
"Yoga Anatomy by Leslie Kaminoff is a must have book for yoga instructors and practitioners. Although there are few books on yoga anatomy currently available to choose from, I was pleasantly surprised by the offer of Kaminoff. First, the illustrations are absolutely clear (the amazing artist, Sharon Ellis, a medical illustrator). The drawings show exactly what your muscles and bones are made of each pose. The coolest thing is that we have the opportunity to see some (not all) of the laying of these interesting angles – and not just the side view and front – but also by the low and high, which adds really a lot (the author of this shooting photos of the models below, using a large sheet of Plexiglas suspended by the two scales). For example, imagine "Bakasana" (Crane Pose) sub! You can see the serratus anterior and iliacus work – two things that May be difficult to see in books on anatomy of traditional yoga.
For each pose featured, Kaminoff provides information on actions, which parts of the body are at work, which is longer and obstacles you meet in May Sanskrit and English are the words with the pronunciation of Sanskrit. The author also gives a detailed chapter on the dynamics of respiration as well as a chapter on the spine. These additions are very valuable and very clear. Thus, much information is presented, it is almost overwhelming – but unlike other books of anatomy, it does not feel dry or boring. This would be a great manual for any yoga training program and for anyone who wants to "see" what happens in each asana.

yoga anatomy
The first 2 chapters about breathing were a bit hard to follow. Although breathing is a big part of yoga, they were necessary.
This book is an aubaine for n' import which étudie or ensign yoga. It reflète so much the care and work and l' attentiveness with the détail. C' is really anatomy for yogis. I& #039; the VE étudiant yoga during près of 40 années and has été exposés à a série of corrective forms d' allignment of work of body. Thus when I& #039; m having l' trouble in a maintenance I réfère often with the standard books d' anatomy but they can être and aren& primordially; #039; T has embrayé towards m' to help include/understand what continues in a maintenance donné. In dépit to always take several courses d' anatomy including/understanding a marvellous class of dissection d' anatomy, I don& #039; T have enough knowledge to translate what I read or see in a text antomy in which I& #039; m making and not making in a maintenance donné of yoga. There are books which aim à être more included, like Mel Robin& #039; deliver S on the physiology of yoga–but j' obtain just accablé by this much d' information. This book m' ? helps? to see the principal muscles functioning in a maintenance donné and the primary reasons which I could have the difficulté with this maintenance. Naturally I would like much more–how can I reinforce or lengthen the muscles which I& #039; m having to use in a maintenance donné. But that requires too much and I think réellement needs work with a professor well entraîné. This book is right good size, easy à to use and calé complètement d' information. The illustrations are remarkable, the reprA?sentation poses différents angles and of refléter l' author& #039; étude étendue of S of l' anatomy and of yoga. I strongly recommend it.

Very interesting book on Yoga that demonstrates all the parts of the body that different poses have an effect on. Also reviews some of the lesser poses.

Very good handbook, the anatomical details are very good thruly realistic.
In a further edition the handbook must be developed on sitting poses with more images.
